Automation Test Consultant

The Test People Ltd have an immediate vacancy for an Automation Test Analyst. The objective of an Automation Test Consultant is to develop automated test scripts from documented manual test scripts. As such the Automation Test Consultant must gain a deep understanding of the functional areas assigned to them to ensure all manual tests are understood and to become an expert in the relevant business areas.

The objective of a Test Consultant is to analyse the functional areas assigned to them to ensure all requirements are understood and to become an expert in the relevant business areas. The Test Consultant will produce complete test cases to ensure full scope and coverage has been achieved.

Test Consultant

The Test Consultant will produce complete test cases to ensure full scope and coverage has been achieved.

The Test Consultant will report directly to their respective Senior Test Consultant.

The responsibilities of this role are as follows:

  • Design and build manual test cases using test tools, strictly following The Test People standards.
  • Maintain and execute manual test cases.
  • Identify manual test cases for automation.
  • Validate automation test results.
  • Define and input test data into the test environment ensuring accuracy of data before use.
  • Interpret and prioritise business requirements to create test plans and scripts.
  • Contribute to test documentation produced by the Principle or Senior Test Consultant.
  • Prepare low level test plans.
  • Propose improvements to test procedures.
  • Provide reports on test results as and when required.
  • Defect management and analysis.
  • Carry out QA of all test artefacts.
  • Provide training and support for UAT.

Required skills:

  • A good understanding of manual testing principles and methodologies.
  • Experience of using test tools (Quality Centre etc).
  • An understanding of IT technologies (Database, HTML, C++, C, Java etc).
  • An understanding of SQL language.
  • Good knowledge of Unix, Windows operating systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience of cross training.
